What "Herbalife on Amazon" really means
Look at the small print under the price: "Sold by" is never Herbalife. It is a reseller, often outside the UK, who is breaking Herbalife's member rules or was never a member at all. Herbalife bans marketplace sales precisely to protect traceability – so an Amazon listing is, by definition, a product that has left the controlled chain.
Amazon adds a specific problem: commingled inventory. When several sellers list the same product, Amazon's warehouses can mix their stock together. Even a listing from a careful seller can ship a tub that came from somebody else. That is exactly how counterfeit clones – near-identical labels, unverified contents – reach buyers who thought they were being careful. Herbalife warns that counterfeit and tampered products circulate on e-commerce sites, and police have shut down at least one factory making fake Herbalife shakes for online sale.
The everyday version of the problem is more mundane but just as real: short-dated tubs, imports with a different formula and non-UK label, and returns that were opened and resold. Amazon's A-to-z guarantee covers your money, not what you have already mixed into your shake.
